Best Bakery for Lunch

Chestnut Bakery

Their bread and savoury pastries are absolutely delicious and perfect for lunch. Don’t forget their sweet pastries too!

Locations: Belgravia, Covent Garden and Piccadilly

Specialities: Croissants! Plain and with many different fillings.

Top Tips: The Covent Garden bakery has a great seating area upstairs overlooking the pedestrianised street.

Best Bakery Chain

Ole and Steen

This Danish chain is a great café serving sandwiches and pastries. This is my go-to café if I want a quick drink or snack when in London.

Locations: Dotted all around London and as far as Oxford and Guildford.

Specialities: Cinnamon Social Slice is the favourite. They do seasonal varieties which are scrummy too.

Top Tips: The social slices are ideal to share but I eat mine to quickly for anyone else to get a look in!

Best Viral Bakery

Fortitude Bakehouse

This bakery has gone viral for it’s Beignets. I think their Cinnamon Buns should be just as famous.

Location: 35 Colonnade, Bloomsbury. Two minute walk from Russell Square Underground Station.

Specialities:

Top Tips: Visit at 11am to guarantee one of their Beignets. There is a different flavour every day.

Don’t squeeze yourself on a bench outside, walk two minutes and enjoy Russell Square to eat your delicious pastry.

Best Doughnut Bakery

Bread Ahead

Doughnuts from Bread Ahead at Borough Market
Doughnuts!

Not only are their doughnuts amazing, their bread is out of this world. They host many baking courses both in person and online.

Locations: Their flagship store is at Borough Market. Be prepared to queue for your favourite doughnut. They have expanded to other parts of London from Kings Cross to Chelsea, even as far as Dubai!

Specialities: Doughnuts and Sourdough Bread

Top Tips: If Borough Market doesn’t appeal, why not try a more refined experience at The Tea House in Chelsea where you can experience a dainty Afternoon Tea.

Prettiest Bakery

Peggy Porschen

Pink bakery on a street corner
Belgravia

If you’re after the prettiest cakes in London, Peggy Porschen delivers with elegant floral displays and delicate cupcakes.

Locations: Belgravia and Chelsea

Specialities: Insta-worthy cupcakes and everything pink!

Top Tips: Book ahead for their Morning and Afternoon Tea. Definitely worth the calories!

Best Asian fusion Bakery

Arome Bakery

French pastries with an Asian twist. Aside from their honey toast, I would recommend the Apple Miso Pastry.

Location: Covent Garden

Specialities: Honey Butter Toast. If you can catch a batch of these straight from the oven, then you are seriously in for a treat.

Top Tips: If they have run out of Honey Toast, then ask at the till. You should be able to wait for the next batch out of the oven.
