Situated right next to the River Thames, this working farm offers a rare opportunity to get up close with farm animals and enjoy riverside views — all without leaving the city.
In this guide, we’ll cover everything you need to know about visiting Surrey Docks Farm, including what to expect, how to get there, and insider tips to make the most of your visit.
Why visit Surrey Docks Farm?

This community-run working city farm is perfect for a break from the busy city. The skyscrapers in the Docklands are in view as you walk around the farm courtyard watching the goats run around. You can buy animal feed from the shop to feed some of the animals and if you visit in the Springtime, you can even book a slot to bottle feed a lamb! Many ‘Meet an animal’ experiences are on offer all year round, including the ferrets, goats and Shetland pony.

Around the outskirts of the courtyard and field are extensive vegetable gardens and an orchard. It really is fascinating to walk around and enjoy this farm in the city. I visited in the Spring and particularly enjoyed watching the lambs play and the goats running around chasing each other.

As soon as you enter the farm, you walk past the Forge. We had a lovely chat with Kevin, the blacksmith who runs classes and workshops if you are interested in having a go.
